Christmas with Carole Middleton

Take your family festivities up a notch with these fun and easy-to-plan ideas from Carole Middleton
Christmas with the children is always a busy but joyous time, and nothing beats seeing their little faces light up as they tear into their Christmas stockings and enjoy all the wintry food and games with close friends and family.
If it’s your turn to host this year, organising ahead of time is the best thing you can do to take the pressure off. Why not establish a theme to help you plan the menu and décor?
I love the idea of a cosy aprés ski-style party, complete with Scandi touches, hot chocolates and faux-fur blankets and cushions – and don’t forget to have that fire burning! Or you might prefer more of a winter wonderland, with white icicle-style lights draped from doorways, glittering snowflakes and cuddly polar bears.
Keep the little ones entertained with plenty of fun activities. You could set up a gingerbread decorating station, or divide the party into teams for a gingerbread house-building competition. Have all of your supplies ready, choose a judge and have a few different categories, such as ‘Most Creative’ or ‘Best Construction’. Later, get everyone in the festive spirit with your very own Christmas karaoke or heartwarming movie marathon, or you could even get crafty by setting up your own Santa’s workshop, creating homemade Christmas cards and party hats, or decorating your own Christmas jumpers.
Finally, a festive party wouldn’t be complete without an indulgence or two, try coconut-covered snowball cakes and homemade cheesy crackers.
