How Gymnastics Builds Key Skills
Children love to burn off energy, so parents are increasingly looking for ways for them to enjoy being active whilst learning core skills. The sought-after gymnastics classes from LAGAD are great fun but also give children confidence and discipline, fuelling their brain and body alike.
London Academy of Gymnastics and Dance is staffed by former International and World Championship gymnasts, who draw upon their own lifetime love of gymnastics to inspire the next generation. Since its founding in 2009, their ever-popular classes have seen countless young students progress from beginners right through to advanced levels, with the emphasis on enjoyment.
Gymnastics teaches skills which underpin many other sports and physical activities. As well as building strength and flexibility, gymnasts master balance, coordination and control. The more advanced moves require considerable practice, which develops children’s work ethic and a great sense of achievement.
Jessica Shenton, the Director of LAGAD, says,
“When I founded LAGAD, I wanted to bring passion and professionalism to gymnastics classes for children. It is so important to have qualified coaches to ensure their safety and help them reach their potential.
“2020 has brought new challenges, as many of our students switched to our online lessons, via Zoom. These interactive classes have been a great success but we’re now delighted to be reopening our ‘real life’ classes in Chelsea this September. There will be a few changes to allow social distancing and regular sanitising but we can’t wait to see our students face-to-face again”.
LAGAD runs private and group classes after-school and at weekends at primary schools and in private homes throughout the capital, whilst continuing to offer online gymnastics classes.
Feedback from parents on the online lessons has been positive, with one mother commenting,
“The class was the best we’ve done in the whole of lockdown – Lola was engaged, the class was great fun and a perfect example of how to keep younger children interested, huge well done – your energy throughout the class was amazing!”
The reopening of school venues allows the full range of gymnastics equipment to be brought into play, with one parent saying,
“The girls were excited to see the bars as they were very inspired by the Olympics and wanted to have a go.”.
