John Lewis Unveils New SS23 Childrenswear Collections
John Lewis has just launched its Spring/Summer 2023 childrenswear collection, the first to be spearheaded by the new Director of Design, Queralt Ferrer. We take a look at the brand’s latest offering…

This latest collection marks a ‘reinvention’ for childrenswear at John Lewis, introducing a more modern aesthetic which has been popular in the recent womenswear and menswear collections that were also overseen by the new Queralt Ferrer, the new Director of Design.

For the first time John Lewis will have a clear between age groups, the ‘youngers’ collection is for children ages 2-8 and the ‘tween’ collection is for children 8-14. This step change in the assortment has been built around customer insight that tweens don’t want to shop younger collections – great for your young teenagers who don’t want to be seen wearing the same clothes as the little ones!

The SS23 John Lewis childrenswear collection, is inspired by 90s skaters with oversized hoodies, logo tees and wide leg cargo trousers in a monochromatic colour scheme to tap into the resurgence of nostalgic 90s fashion trends.

The boys collection is bright and surf orientated with checkerboard prints, vertical stripes and matching palm print sets for a cool poolside attitude.
For the girls, there are more relaxed separates with a 90s feel featuring key items such as the cargo trouser, bold rugby stripes and polo necklines with copious amounts of tie die! Prices range from £7-£38.

SS23 is inspired by happiness, joy and all things optimistic with a playful use of colour and print to express individuality.
Queralt Ferrer, Director of Design, says,“This new season brings a new energy to our childrenswear range; there has been a focus with the team to create collections that not only feel relevant and stylish but that also spark joy in the child wearing them. I am excited to see our mini-customers’ reactions and to celebrate their own individuality and style.”

Alongside the new own brand collections we are launching ten new brands to the wide range of brands available at John Lewis, giving children and tweens the curation of products that we know they really want. Whistles and Mango kids successfully launched late last year and we are also bringing in new brands for kids; Mintie by Mint Velvet and Ted Baker and for the tweens; Only, Gap and Nike. Also launching for babies this season are JoJo Maman Bebe, Petit Bateau and Name It.
