Why St Catherine’s Prep School is the Ideal Choice for Your Child
Located in Bramley, near Guildford, St Catherine’s Prep School is a happy school with high expectations
St Catherine’s Prep School is a place that provides a range of outstanding opportunities both in and out of the classroom. The staff here encourage a love of learning in an environment where the art of creative thinking is taught, along with self-reliance.
Supported by strong Christian values, girls acquire self-respect, and show courtesy and consideration for others. The girls are also fully prepared to move onto their senior schools – including St Catherine’s senior division – and their education is treated as an important partnership between home and school, with shared aims and aspirations.
St Catherine’s Pre-Prep
Pre-Prep marks the beginning of a child’s school life, and St Catherine’s prides itself on establishing key foundations in both social and academic learning. A child who is happy, confident and feels secure within their environment will learn and flourish.
Class sizes are small, with 16 children in Reception and 18 in Years One and Two, and with highly-qualified teachers, every child receives the support they need to reach their full potential.
The school aims to give pupils the capacity and chance to develop as an individual, and its priority is to provide a positive learning experience where self-respect and independence are encouraged. Staff at St Catherine’s foster an ‘I can’ approach, and encourage the girls to develop an awareness of others and a polite, kind and helpful attitude.
What are the facilities at St Catherine’s like?
The pre-prep girls benefit immeasurably from the fabulous facilities of the senior school, including the extensive grounds, indoor swimming pool, sports hall, gymnasium, dance studio, magnificent auditorium and 19th century chapel.
All the girls engage in a full and varied curriculum, which includes music, ballet, computing and sport, all delivered by dedicated specialist teachers who add value to their learning. There are also opportunities during the year for the girls to celebrate and share their achievements, such as assemblies, Sports Day, Spring Chapel Service and the Christmas Nativity.
These experiences help the children to build a large bank of happy memories that inform and shape their education in the broadest possible sense. This is something the school prides itself on.
Christian values at St Catherine’s Prep School
St Catherine’s Prep School bases its education on strong Christian values, and the chapel is at the heart of the school. Everyone strives to be the best they can be, and the girls celebrate each other’s successes, recognising their own strengths and achievements.
The school also provides outstanding pastoral care. The relationships that are built between the girls and their teachers are key to the success, both academic and personal, of the girls. Together, the staff ensure that St Catherine’s girls have a sense that there is nothing that they can’t go on to achieve.
