With the weather finally warming up, Eaton Square Schools tell us about the value of getting out in the great outdoors.
Summer is truly here! With longer, brighter and warmer days, it’s time to make the most of outdoor life. Indeed, if the past year has taught us anything, it is the incredible value of the great outdoors. The social, emotional, physical and intellectual benefits of nature have never been felt so keenly.
Naturally, when choosing their child’s education, many London families ask, “How do you achieve this in a London school?”
Eaton Square Schools have the answer. An impressive group of Nursery schools, Prep and Senior school (with new Sixth Form set to open in September 2022), each is based across superb premises in Belgravia, Mayfair and Pimlico – all maximising amazing access to outdoor space. At Eaton Square, pupils aged 2-16 thrive in a school environment that notably recognises – and champions – the importance of nature.

SUPPORT NATURE: ECO-INITIATIVES
Impressively for its central London location, Eaton Square Prep School has achieved Bronze Level Eco-School status: irrefutable proof of how the school actively strives to protect the planet. Driven by a pupil-led Eco Committee, Eaton Square pupils truly embrace popular year-round initiatives, including the flourishing Gardening Club, litter picking on Eccleston Square, bird watching and creative upcycling projects.
Headmistress Trish Watts says, “I am consistently impressed and delighted by our pupils’ environmental efforts: in the past few weeks alone, they’ve dressed as bees to support World Bee Day, embraced all aspects of Walk to School Week and participated in a terrific Water Workshop given by Thames Water. The developmental benefits of these eco-initiatives – both to pupils and to our surrounding environment – renders them an ongoing priority in our school calendar.”
EXPERIENCE NATURE: OUTDOOR LEARNING
When it comes to outdoor learning in central London, Eaton Square Senior School is exceptional. The only independent, co-educational school in Mayfair, it overlooks Green Park – maximising the acres of sought-after, leafy-green surroundings as a natural extension of the classroom.
Be it Art and Design lessons, Leadership projects, mindfulness walks, break times, athletics practice and even charity events (including a recent Coconut Shy morning to raise funds for United World Schools), pupils are filled with fresh air and fresh inspiration at every opportunity.
Likewise, located just moments from Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, the Royal Academy of Arts and The Royal Institution, the school’s location is both unique and historical; accessible and inspirational.
CELEBRATE NATURE: NATURAL DESIGN
Aside from enjoying daily walks and activities in their nearby Royal Parks, Eaton Square Nursery Schools have an innovative plan in store for championing the power of nature. This September, they launch a brand new nursery on London’s historic Eccleston Square, inspired by the English countryside and designed by prestigious interior designers, House of Kin.
Located on the ground floor of a light, spacious and historic Georgian townhouse (also home to the Prep School – so very useful for parent drop offs), you can expect outstanding design where learning through play is a priority. This child-centred environment will offer interactive features, natural materials and even a three-storey tree house and bee hive! Educational enjoyment is guaranteed; the entire design is carefully created to develop maths skills, fine motor skills, phonics and an understanding of both space and shape.
