The London Children’s Book Fair
Celebrate the best of modern children’s literature with your little ones this weekend at contemporary art exhibition space, Parasol Unit
It’ll be children’s books and family activities galore at Parasol Unit on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 December, as some of today’s most innovative and imaginative publishers, authors and illustrators come together for book signings, workshops, live drawing sessions and more.
Marion Deuchars, the much-loved author and illustrator of Art Play and Bob The Artist will be signing books and running workshops for children that include making your own 3D forest and exploring textures and patterns. Brooklyn-based artist Jon Burgerman will reveal his new colouring book, and illustrator Alice Bowsher will produce her own large-scale live drawing, as well as a photo booth to take book-inspired selfies. Throughout the fair, there will be a host of activities for children, including make-your-own-book sessions, storytime, colour-in wallpaper and even designing and making your own football strip for your favourite team. Club Petit Pierrot will also be there, offering fun French lessons for little ones, with stories, songs and dance.
The free event will also showcase an inspiring selection of children’s books, postcards, bookmarks, tote bags, balloons and limited-edition artworks – all of which make perfect gifts. What better place to finish that Christmas shopping?
When? Friday 16 December, 2pm to 8pm; Saturday 17 December 10am to 5pm.
Where? Parasol Unit Foundation for Contemporary Art, 14 Wharf Road, London N1 7RW
