Top Ten Toys Revealed

We all know children are as fickle as we are when it comes to trends and retailers and anyone involved in marketing jump for joy when Christmas makes its annual appearance.

Two brands however are bucking the Christmas toy trend and have stood the test of time in terms of popularity.

Lego and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are non movers in the toy charts and remain as popular as ever, appearing in the top ten of predicted bestsellers for Christmas 2013 as well as the top ten toys of all time.

James Ford, Debenhams Toy Buyer said: “Parents will remember these brands, and provided we modernise them, they’re more than likely to buy them for their kids.”

Research into the top ten toys was conducted by high street retailer Debenhams and revealed this morning. The results, produced by analysing 50 years of sales figures, include the toys predicted to be the bestsellers this Christmas and those that are considered the top ten of all time.

As Debenhams gears up to celebrate its 200^th anniversary this Christmas, the retailer is keen to provide an insight into the toys that have filled children’s stockings at Christmas.

Cabbage Patch Dolls have secured the top spot in the list of the top ten toys of all time. The renowned line of dolls celebrated their 30-year anniversary this year.

Technological advancements and their popularity are clear as the majority of predicted bestsellers for Christmas 2013 are electrical itens The Kurio 4S touch tablet stole the top spot.

Other toys from previous Christmas’ that didn’t quite make the top ten include: My Little Pony, Polly Pocket, Etch-a-Sketch and Action Man.
